It's another day in 2026, and the algorithm has been force-feeding us Creed. I was wondering why Chuck Mundy — that guy with an old man's prosthetic mask and a gazillion hot dogs and Busch Lights, singing "One Last Breath" — kept popping up on my Instagram. Although the algorithm might be catering to my unhinged, trashy taste, many users have been noticing recently that Instagram has been recommending Creed's 1999 hit "Higher" to soundtrack story posts.
An Instagram spokesperson told CNN that something is amiss with all the Creed suggestions. "We looked into this and found that this song is being recommended to more people than intended,” she said. The spokesperson confirmed that the engineering team is working on solving the problem.
The article also mentioned another song that users are suspicious of being pushed is the 2008 hit "Turn My Swag On" from Soulja Boy. However, the Instagram representative dismissed this. “The Soulja Boy song being recommended is not a bug, and it is actually popular on IG!” she said.
Posted on instagram about how instagram always tries to make me add Higher by Creed to my stories and it turns out it’s happening to other people. I feel like I’m uncovering a big conspiracy. Theo algorithms want us to love creed pic.twitter.com/XiPD3rdGDJ

I can’t prove it but pretty sure Creed is paying META to suggest their song “Higher” on all Instagram Stories
