Steven Tyler Addresses Bill Burr’s Claim That Aerosmith Won’t Play More Shows

Aerosmith just won't let the world say goodbye to them, will they? A few years ago, the classic rock institution postponed and then canceled their farewell tour, presumably because of Steven Tyler's injury, as well as the still-pending sexual assault lawsuit against him. Last month, the band announced plans to play a couple of all-star tribute concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, and the general assumption was that they'd be the final Aerosmith shows. That's what Bill Burr thought, anyway.

Bill Burr, big-deal comedian and fellow Boston guy, hosted the first of Aerosmith's two tribute shows on Thursday. From the stage, Burr seemingly confirmed the speculation about the band's future, saying, "Welcome, everybody, to this amazing event! The final two shows in Aerosmith's history!"

Apparently, though, that was Bill Burr going rogue. Aerosmith played the second of their Hollywood Bowl shows on Sunday night, and Steven Tyler told the crowd, "So Bill Burr said these are our final shows, huh? Doesn't he know that you can't get rid of Aerosmith? In fact, at the end of the fucking world, there will only be cockroaches, Aerosmith, and I guess Bill Burr!" Bleak. Tyler then tried to locate Burr in the crowd, saying, "Where are you? He's already left. What a pussy."

So: More Aerosmith shows, apparently. It's a book that simply will not close. You can't get rid of Aerosmith.

Last night's show had a few different guests from the first one, including Alice In Chains' Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez, Tom Morello with Lzzy Hale, Train's Pat Monahan, and Marcus King. During Aerosmith's set, they were joined by Run-DMC and their semi-estranged drummer Joey Kramer for "Walk This Way."

Guns N' Roses and the Black Crowes played Aerosmith covers at both shows, but they switched up their setlists. Last night, per Setlist.fm, GN'R did "Mama Kin," "SOS (Too Bad)," "Rats In The Cellar," and "Sick As A Dog," while the Black Crowes took on "Let The Music Do The Talking," "Get The Lead Out," "Combination," "No More No More," and "Chip Away The Stone."
