New Young Pony Club – “Chaos” (Stereogum Premiere)

New Young Pony Club - The Optimist

Vintage BTW New Young Pony Club's debut album (and spot on NME's 2007 tour with CSS and the Klaxons), defined them as part of the UK's nu rave dance scene. This time the foursome's cut down on the obvious touchstones -- the suggestive double-entendres, the 4/4 bass drums -- and tried for something different. "Chaos," the first single from their second album The Optimist, is still made for dancing, but singer Tahita Bulmer's usual bravado softens to show some self-questioning and vulnerability.
