As Forbes reported, last year was a great one for Kurt Cobain; he raked in $50Mwithout even lifting a finger. And like we said then, it's just beginning; thanks to C. Love, music publisher Primary Wave has a 25% stake in the Nirvana song catalog and is looking to place those tunes for some serious cash money. Ahh, such sweet irony for the band that made a splash with artwork of an all-American baby gone off the dollar deep end. But what kind of places can we expect to hear "Rape Me"? Primary Wave's CEO spoke encouragingly to Forbes:
You will never see Kurt Cobain's music in a fast-food hamburger advertisement ? that won't ever happen. We're looking at things that relate to cutting-edge technologies, products that are green and eco-friendly, products that Kurt would have liked to have his music represented by.
But then, there's their selling out to CSI: Miami (Coldplay and Mayer style), which will "prominently feature several Nirvana recordings" in a November episode with more in contemplation. Ugh. Does this shock the conscience? Or are we in the age of cynical acceptance of the eventual sale of even the most apparently untouchable icons?
Well, if you want to be a benign supporter of the Cobain estate, you can grab the DVD version of Nirvana's "home video" Live! Tonight! Sold Out!, full of interviews and performance clips. Here's the trailer:

Although you should know that if you end up buying, chances are it's 'cause Courtney asked for it while chanting.
Live! Tonight! Sold Out! is out on DVD 11/13.
