Pantha Du Prince, Delphic @ Echo, LA 6/18/10

Pantha Du Prince

|Andrew Youssef

Last week, Pantha Du Prince made an appearance at Santos Party House to a hearty welcome. It was the German minimal techno maven's first States side appearance in three years, and so his first since Black Noise (and its attendant shift to Rough Trade, Panda Bear collab) raised his profile from heady hypnotic loop purveyor to blog-baiting trance-champ. Hendrick Weber's mini reacquainting-with-America tour wrapped in Los Angeles, and the city replied in similar fashion according to photographer Andrew Youssef. (Also according to AY: Pantha "mainly used an Akai APC 40 Ableton live controller to mix and tweak various loops and samples live." Now you know.) The show was opened by New Order devotees Delphic, the Dangerbird signees first U.S. appearance after their intended debut at Coachella was washed out by all that volcanic ash.
