Roadside Graves don't fuck around. They don't have to... As we've documented multiple times, the Metuchen, NJ crew play smart, straight-up rock 'n' roll with better lyrics and more hardworking energy than most smart, straight-up rock 'n' roll bands. (They should do a Jersey package tour with Titus Andronicus and Gaslight Anthem.) A good example of what they do well is "Liv Tyler," the epic first single from the six-song You Won’t Be Happy With Me EP. Another standout, "Everything," finds the Graves in a more textural, atmospheric mode -- which is maybe why they opted to give it the remix treatment. Considering the band's blue collar aesthetic, it's interesting hearing the glossier/dancier take by DJ/producer Ari Why. He's wiped off some of the dirt, added a few scratches.
