Beyond taking place in beautiful Oslo, Norway one of Øya Festival's strongest points is its eclecticism: When I attended in 2006 (and met Amrit), I was excited by Enslaved, the Knife, and Morrissey performing in the same space (though not on the same stage at the same time, unfortunately). As you'll see via Clint Heyer's atmosphere-establishing photos, the variety continued in 2010 via sets from Against Me!, Big Boi, Iggy Pop, M.I.A., Surfer Blood, Fucked Up, Robyn, the XX, etc. (1349, Nachtmystium, Trash Talk, Wardruna, and Altaar are not pictured, but they were there, furthering the idea of Øya's adventurous cross-genre bookings.)
