Dirty Projectors

|Santiago Felipe

Twenty-six years after debuting her epic modern opera United States: Part I-IV, Laurie Anderson returned to the Brooklyn Academy of Music last night to launch the venue's Next Stage Campaign. The legendary avant-garde performance artist curated the evening with performances from Stereogum favorites Dirty Projectors and Brightblack Morning Light, along with Nona Hendryx, gospel group James Hall Worship & Praise, vaudevillian musician Poor Baby Bree, Afro-Latin jazz composer Arturo O'Farrill, and a new piece choreographed by Sarah Michelson. Eclectic! We sent Santiago Felipe to capture the night in photos, and class this blog up a bit.
