Gaslight Anthem Serve Letterman “The ’59 Sound”

Gaslight Anthem are a clean cut pop punkish/rock 'n' roll band from New Brunswick, NJ. I lived in New Brunswick during some formative years, so I understand where they're coming from, even if it's not a place I go to very often at this point. Still, the anthemic title track from The '59 Sound -- the album made it onto NME's year end list, the song Rolling Stone's -- should appeal to fans of Against Me! and/or the Killers and other bands inspired by Bruce Springsteen (though I can't pretend to understand the minds of Killers fans). The Boss was great last night, so this one's for him. It's also for New Jersey and for Letterman, who gets more excited about these guys than anyone in recent memory (keep that in mind, Okkervil River supporters).

"Young boys, young girls, ain't supposed to die on a Saturday night." That's a pretty successful moment there. And even though Letterman almost got whacked by that bass, he's clearly a huge fan.

The '59 Sound is out via SideOneDummy. The guys will be at Coachella '09.
