We brought you a Progress Report on Small Black, and "Photojournalist," the first taste from the band's upcoming debut LP. "Search Party" doesn't have the same "filter haze" as "Photojournalist" -- it's really just on the vocals and the wobbly background keyboard on the chorus -- but it means the hooks are remarkably clear and upfront. One of the rules they made for New Chain was not to use any guitars. That constraint pushed their creativity -- I really like how different all the synth textures are.
