Scout Niblett Covers The Cars

The blonde-wigged Brit singer-songwriter Emma Louise (a.k.a. Scout) Niblett has once again wooed Steve Albini away from spending all his time with his excellent Italian greyhound long enough to record her forthcoming, fourth full-length -- but while we wait for her next guitar-drum-sung LP, Scout offers a three-song EP to help bide the time. And, quite excellently, she has chosen to cover "Just What I Needed." You won't hear her trademark stick wielding; just a couple of harmonies and a lonely electric that picks up some fuzz at the two-minute mark and then gets all riot grrl for like thirty seconds.

As a little download bonus, here's Ms. Niblett doing EP title track "Dinosaur Egg" in concert, faithful to its studio incarnation, summoning a sparse and stricken Polly Jean Harvey with a sheen of that good ole fashioned live-recording hiss.
