Wainrofolo's five-night residency at the Gramercy in NYC this week is the first of his show stints in the city that we've missed in years -- probably a mix of seeing him do too many covers at Carnegie recently (Judy Garland one night, Xmas carols another) and not falling in love with the new record the way we'd hoped. But, this recent performance of the new album's title track on The Henry Rollins Show has us in the midst of canceling plans this weekend to catch him. Watch it here, and click here to hear Rufus talk about how he went to Germany to have his "Bowie moment" and instead was foiled by the city's Romantic culture, finding himself "eating sausages" and "listening to Wagner" and having that inform the record. Ziemlich ausgezeichnet.
