Exit Music (From The Sopranos)

We figure network news and every newspaper available have already spoiled last night's ending for those that didn't tune in, so really, you're in no harm here. The show that kicked off our blog documented obsession with tunes on the tube (actual obsession dates back to the womb) closed shop last night, a bittersweet moment for Sunday night HBO junkies and fans of extended gabagol-scarfing sequences alike. As always, David Chase peppered the final serving of The Sopranos with choice musical treats, the centerpieces coming from Dylan and Journey, with shreds of Sonic Youth and other tuneage along the way. So, via hbo.com, here's what you heard during your Sopranos party last night, up until the time you banged your TV to make sure it hadn't malfunctioned.

The quick cut left us jilted for a sec, but the more we think about it, the more we dig the blacked-out ending. Gotta wonder though: Was it Chase's artistic statement on the untidy, banality of life in the onion ring USA, or an open door for a movie? Probably a little art, and a little commerce. Pretty smooth.
