Krieg, Woe @ The Knitting Factory, Brooklyn 10/30/10

Krieg

|Samantha Marble

The official date of this weekend's Haunting The Chapel/BrooklynVegan Krieg/woe show was Saturday, 10/30, but we started the Mischief Night/Halloween event after midnight to make sure the East Coast black metal crews offered the first dark sounds you heard on 10/31. As mentioned, both bands own 2010 standout releases (both on Candlelight). On Sat/Sun, they also shared members: After ripping into Quietly, Undramatically with his boozy Philly cohorts (and HTC live regulars), woe main man Chris Grigg handled drums (ably) for Krieg's set. It was an excellent night complete with black metal pogoing and a few audience members wearing facepaint, though unfortunately, unlike the Mt. Eerie/Liturgy/Malkuth show I did last Halloween, nobody showed up dressed like a banana. No worries: Samantha Marble took photos decked-out like a self-described "child of the damned."
