Copenhagen, Denmark quartet When Saints Go Machine has been crafting and honing since 2007, though they are just now releasing a proper debut LP, Konkylie. It may have taken all those years to reconcile the quartet's various, individually preferred styles (citing techno, house, jazz, neo-soul, Broadcast, the Slits as influences in aggregate) into an agreeable full-length mesh, but whatever the cause for deliberation, Konkylie's thoughtful execution and appealing hooks reflect time well spent. Try "Kelly," an electro-pop production with with warm, new wave currents to its bounce. Vocalist Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild is out front with lines about young love and a record colleciton that clearly contains lots of Arthur Russell. For fans of Austra and Antony, and a song about a first kiss, which makes it proper listening for spring:
