Jesse Sykes had her triple L this year -- Like, Love, Lust -- but the Raveonettes aren't bothering with the mushy stuff. It's all about Lust Lust Lust for them, and for us: cue up the dusky girl group melodies, the Jesus, the Mary, and spin it heavily, Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo have put together a great one. The excellent "Dead Sound" gets a majestic, cinematic makeover here, a Ronnie specter dancing amidst a troupe of youths coming to grips with the loss of a friend gone too far, too deep, and too soon.

The Raveonettes - "Dead Sound" (MP3)
Have a listen of "Aly, Walk With Me" here. Lust Lust Lust is out early '08 on Vice. And if all that's not enough, take the jump for "Dead Sound" in the back of a London black cab. No distortion, no reverb, still lovely.
