Pattern Is Movement/Dirty Projectors @ Knitting Factory, NYC 12/31/07

By Amrit
See a show to help ring in 2008? It's usually a pretty safe bet -- you get your big countdown, to be surrounded by strangers within a somewhat controlled environment, and (as long as it's not Les Savy Fav) you get let out in time for you to do more partying. A couple of us went down to see two of Stereogum's favorite bands at the moment -- Dirty Projectors and Philly's Pattern Is Movement -- play After The Jump's NYE party at Knitting Factory. And it was awesome. And, (lots of) libations may have been involved ... so I'll let Abbey Braden's YouTube do the recollecting. "I'm usually a terrible master of ceremonies," Dave Longstreth said at some point before midnight, but "Gimme Gimme Gimme" was perfect song choice for the (s)witching hour. You can hear the kids start screaming around countdown time before the band spazzed and started scraping and cooing at a "New Attitude"...

Part II of "Gimme" afterthejump, along with a super-screechy "Police Story," and some pics of the mighty Dirty Ps and Pattern Is Movement.

So, we got to see two of our favorite albums, performed on the last night of the year, starting/ending the year on a high, art-rock note. What about you guys? See any good bands NYE? Webcasts excluded.
