While we're talking Alison ... holy Goldfrapp. The new tune posted at UK vets Saint Etienne's MySpace grooves an airy shuffle reminiscent in spirit to recently everywhere "A&E." OK, just ignore that tune's more dramatic finale -- this one takes us to the south side of the dance floor and stays put, bubbling with a softcore dance groove that doesn't try to reach toward Alison's greater vocal heights. Nope, Sarah Cracknell keeps it steady, dreamy for the duration. The song, which is the title track for the band's documentary on London's Royal Festival Hall, could originally be found as a 7" accompanying the November '07 issue of the London magazine The Illustrated Ape. (Wonder if it likes to eat Bananafish.) Now that it's reaching more ears, it should help fill the late-night dance floor. Hey, wallflowers.
