Last week we spotlighted the first solo single from Au Revoir Simone's Erika Spring, and teased that 7"'s flip side, a new single from taut, prog-intoned NYC new wave outfit Violens. "It Couldn't Be Perceived" presents Jorge Elbrecht's synth-stained (Brit)pop and muso instincts in honorable form, with tricky stops, dramatic arrangements, shifty song structure. Meanwhile the video's fuzzy footage and spy flick style offers the band a new way to collaborate with Chairlift's Caroline Polahcek, who has previously recorded a "French Duet" with Violens and directs here.

Violens' "It Couldn't Be Perceived" b/w Erika Spring's "6 More Weeks" is out via Friendly Fires Recordings.
