Cass McCombs fourth LP Catacombs is a stunner on its own (add it to yesterday's list of Domino's 2009 triumphs), and now is two-for-two in yielding beautifully compelling videos. Aaron Brown directs the clip for Cass's Norman Mailer-repurposing "The Executioner's Song," a crisply rendered portrait of a working man's passion for his job, showing the quiet details -- and then the one loud one -- that make his a creepy labor of love. (If you re-read that song title this will all make some sense, but even more so after you watch this video to the end.)
