When stubbornly-still-existing California namedrop-rapper Game snagged a Tyler, The Creator guest verse for his track "Martians Vs. Goblins," it was fun to hear a longtime industry figure going embarrassingly all-out in attempting to replicate the Odd Future shock-rap style. See, Game is legitimately insane; he's the type of guy who constantly gets ugly face tattoos to cover up his previous ugly face tattoos. But when he actually tries to sound like a nutcase, he comes off like an old man looking for teenagers' approval. It's pretty funny.
In the brand-new "Martians Vs. Goblins" video, Game pushes that tendency even further, wearing Marilyn Manson crazy-eyes contacts and writing around in a straightjacket on what appears to be the set of Gothika. Tyler doesn't do himself a ton of favors with his verse here; this is dim shock-rap, without the desperate self-hate that makes Tyler's whole thing interesting. But in the video, he pretty much looks like an adorable little kid cradling a kitty, so all his threats come off a bit more unsettling than Game's rah-rah horrorcore. Lil Wayne, who does the track's hook, never shows up. Matt Alonzo directs. Watch the video below.
