When posting ex-Touch & Go crew the Uglysuit's "Chicago," I mentioned that the good-time Oklahoma City sextet concocted "big sunny pop songs." "1902 Deep Ocean," a track from an unreleased four-song EP, finds them moving deeper into the quiet acoustic sound they showcased when they stopped by to do a Decomposed set. It's a different darker sort of psychedelia, one that feels years older and justifies making like a youthful Incredible String Band in a field somewhere. That said, there's still something evoking Ugly Casanova in there.
