Mykki Blanco – “Kingpinning” Video
“Kingpinning” is a Brenmar-produced standout from the world of Michael Quattlebaum, who raps as Mykki Blanco, who trades in wigs and other drag elements, who told the NY Times his style is “a mixture of riot grrrl and ghetto fabulousness,” and whose origin story includes writing letters to Vincent Gallo, running away to NYC, and being a go-go boy at The Cock. Quattlebaum’s building a coalition, though, with Mykki Blanco, refracting his transgressive aesthetics into a milieu where he kicks it with “white boys with them yarmulkas/ model chicks with a million followers.” That’s an operative phrase from “Kingpinning” itself, from the Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss mixtape, and the Clarence Fuller-directed video shows a few sides and shades of Mykki. Get to know.
Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss is streaming (with a free Mediafire download link as well) at Soundcloud. You can also grab it at Datpiff.
