Tenacious D Announce Inaugural Festival Supreme
Tenacious D is one of the few bands in the world to successfully bridge comedy and music, and the guys behind that band — Jack Black and Kyle Gass — seem uniquely suited to the task of curating an entire festival dedicated to that hybrid form. That said, the just-announced Festival Supreme isn’t exactly the comedy-rock bonanza the duo originally envisioned (they told Rolling Stone the event’s working title was Monsters Of Comedy Rock); it leans pretty heavily on the comedy half of that equation, and doesn’t include some of the comedy-rock genre’s most popular figures, namely Weird Al Yankovic, the Lonely Island, and Flight Of The Conchords, among others. But the lineup is nonetheless loaded. Festival Supreme will feature the Mr. Show Experience, Reggie Watts, Zach Galifianakis, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Fred Armisen, Eric Idle, and Hannibal Buress, along with lots of other acts (the full lineup is listed in the poster above these words). The event goes down on Saturday, October 19, on the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA; tickets go on sale this Wednesday.
