Outside Lands 2013 Sunday: Vampire Weekend, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Willie Nelson, & More
The final day of Outside Lands was definitely a more mellow affair than Saturday with its NIN headlined attack. Most people entering in the afternoon were greeted by Kurt Vile’s excellent set on the Sutro Stage. Later a small, but dedicated group headed to an unlisted secret show by The Head And The Heart that culminated in a fan-led sing along. Hall & Oates opened for Vampire Weekend and those two do what they do extremely well, and got thousands of people singing along even if it they were doing it somewhat ironically. Vampire Weekend was like a well-oiled machine, playing everything you want to hear and cramming so many songs into a relatively short set time. And of course there was Willie Nelson & Family, although maybe they should have changed it to Willie Nelson & Family & John Stamos, who joins Nelson at his shows from time to time. Nelson remains one of the best performers around today, and the audience included everyone from little kids, college students, and older fans singing along to “On The Road Again.” Check out our photo gallery by Moses Namkung above for highlights from those sets and ones from Foals, Dawes, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
