Palehound – “I Get Clean”
Ellen Kempner’s debut EP Bent Nail is under 20 minutes, and she’s not even 20 years old, but that hasn’t stopped Palehound from becoming one of the most exciting artists to pop up recently. “I Get Clean” is gentler than either “Drooler” or “Pet Carrot,” yet it seems to carry the most weight. Simple observations about when to take a shower or having a sore throat eventually give way to an admission as inspiring as it is devastating: “I glisten for the sake of it, when really I should glow/I’m stunted for the fun of it, when I should fucking grow.” Listen below.
