Daylight – “Siblings”
While many bands mine the ’90s for inspiration, they tend to do it more towards the Pavement side of things. So it’s a nice change of pace to hear how much Daylight channel the melodic heaviness of Nevermind era Nirvana. They released their debut album earlier this year (even down to the artwork it looks like it could have been a grunge-era classic), and now they have a new track out titled “Siblings,” that will appear on an upcoming compilation. The comp is arranged by Will Yip with the hopes of raising enough money to create a studio for many of the bands in this music scene. His passionate statement is below and worth reading in full.
This compilations is about family. It’s the coming together of a tight knit community made up of the best bands and friends I know all in one place. Every band is helping me create a permanent production home our music scene has never had before…we’re making the legendary Studio 4 ours. A home and a one of a kind environment where we can forever be able to create the best possible product without limitations.
Honestly, if the rest of the songs on the Off The Board come kick as much ass as “Siblings,” thinks are likely to work out. Listen here (via Pitchfork).
