Arca Announces New Album XXXXX

It has been nearly five years futuristic pop experimenter Arca released kiCK iiiii, her most recent album. In the time since then, Arca has released a bunch of singles, like "Puta," "Sola," and the Tokischa collab "Chama." She has also done some big remixes and production jobs, including on Madonna's new album Confessions II. Today, Arca finally announces plans for a new full-length called XXXXX, coming in just a week and a half.

The tracks on XXXXX all appear to be new, and Arca hasn't shared any advance singles. According to a press release, the new record is "in the spirit of" Arca's 2013 mixtape &&&&& and her 62-minute 2020 track "@@@@@." In a press release, Arca says, "It seems playful, also mischievous, to interrupt that autopilot." I don't know what that means!

Instead of a single, Arca is introducing XXXXX by playing a two-hour livestreamed performance on July 23. Daniel Sannwald will direct the livestream, and Akeem Smith will style it. According to a press release, the set will feature "multiple performances of unreleased album tracks across seven distinct locations" in Barcelona. Feeld is presenting the show, and it'll debut live on Twitch and YouTube, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Central European Summer Time, which translates to 3:30 p.m. eastern.
