Jeremiah Jae – “Fun”
Warp Records rapper Jeremiah Jae inhabits the wordy, nerdy, grimy-yet-colorful underground lane that has gotten a lot of traffic over the years from the Def Jux roster, the Anticon collective and MF Doom. Jae’s kind of like Odd Future without the juvenilia or the pop instincts. We heard him earlier this year on Oneman’s remix of Mount Kimble’s “You Took Your Time,” and now we’re hearing some solo material. “Fun” is art-rap that could be mistaken for Radiohead’s “Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors” — i.e. not that much fun at all in the sense of happy-go-lucky windows-down rap music, but lots of fun for those who like their hip-hop like a head trip. It’s culled from Dirty Collections Vol. 1, the first in a series of three EPs. You can download it below.
Dirty Collections Vol. 1 is out 11/12 via Warp.
