Cheap Girls – “Man In Question” (Feat. Craig Finn)
In recent years Michigan power trio Cheap Girls has become one of the world’s most reliable practitioners of meat-and-potatoes rock ‘n’ roll — the same kind of punk-infused bar rock fellow Midwest natives the Hold Steady have been (more often than not) gloriously unspooling for the past decade too. The bands fit together so well that they’re playing some shows together this week. So it only makes sense that Cheap Girls recruited Holy Steady frontman Craig Finn to sing on “Man In Question” from their upcoming album Famous Graves. Finn’s signature nasal narration is nowhere to be found here — he sticks to background vocals, and if you didn’t know he was there, you might not notice him — but it’s a sweet bit of convergence nonetheless.
