Earlier this week, Connecticut police arrested Paul Simon and singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, his wife of 22 years. At first, police said that this was a domestic violence arrest, but they later clarified things, charging them both with disorderly conduct, determining that there was a “minor physical altercation.” Simon and Brickell appeared in court together. It’s probably not a coincidence that Brickell and Simon just shared a new duet called “Like To Get To Know You,” a sweet and folksy duet about staying in love over the years. There’s a heavy damage-control implication here — this couple making sure we know that they’re not just beating the shit out of each other every day — but it’s also just a nice song. Listen below.

I, for one, am buying into this whole thing completely, mostly because I don’t want to live in a world where Paul Simon is an abusive husband.
