R.I.P. Gerry Goffin
Gerry Goffin wrote more than fifty top 40 hits, many with his first wife and writing partner Carole King. Some of the songs he wrote or co-wrote include “Saving All My Love For You,” recorded by Whitney Houston, “Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To),” recorded by Diana Ross, and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” recorded by Aretha Franklin. That resume led to his early induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Goffin’s marriage to and working relationship with King was adapted into the hit Broadway musical Beautiful, which recently won two Tony Awards. Goffin died earlier today at his home in Los Angeles, as ABC reports. He was 75.
