The War On Drugs are continuing to improve at a scary rate. Their new album Lost In The Dream is one of the year's very best. And while I remember thinking they were slightly listless onstage when I saw them at SXSW a couple of years ago, their performance on last night's episode of the Late Show With David Letterman showed a band that's matured into a grizzled and powerful live presence. On the show, the band played their majestic single "Red Eyes," with Letterman's bandleader Paul Shaffer standing in, and they just sounded incredible. Nobody's going to make any gifs of this performance, and there's no one thing you can point to and say that they did especially well, but it was a real knock-it-out-of-the-park moment. Check it out below.
