Drake Earns The Toronto Raptors A $25K NBA Fine
Last year, the Toronto Raptors named Drake as their official Global Ambassador. Up until now, his most notable moment in that position came when he frantically lint-rolled his pants while sitting courtside at a playoff game this spring. But last week, Drake cost his team $25,000, thanks to some comments he made from the stage during his own OVO Fest. Oklahoma City Thunder star (and reigning league MVP) Kevin Durant came to the show, and Drake recognized him from the stage, asking the crowd to cheer for him and then saying, “I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto.” The problem, as SPIN points out, is that Drake is officially involved with the NBA, and any public recruiting he tries to do is considered tampering with the game. Also, Durant’s Thunder contract isn’t up until 2016. So relax, Drake.
