Nite Fields – “You I Never Knew” (Stereogum Premiere)
Australian post-punks Nite Fields play dreamy music with a jagged edge, which may be the result of jetlag: The band’s upcoming Depersonalisation was recorded in three cities over four years. Lead single “You I Never Knew” surges ahead with shimmering guitars and relentless rhythm section, the bass eventually accelerating into a mesmerizing melodic pogo. Amidst the haze, Danny Venzin’s deadpan baritone tells a tale of alienation and confusion. The resulting bleary jangle makes an excellent first impression. Listen below.
