Former Oasis co-frontman Noel Gallgher’s second solo album with the High Flying Birds, Chasing Yesterdays, will be out in just about a month, and while Gallagher is busy dissing the Arctic Monkeys, Erol Alkan and Richard Norris of Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve decided to “re-animate” one of his new songs. “Ballad Of The Mighty I” is Gallagher’s collaboration with the Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr, but Alkan and Norris morphed it from Brit-rock into a dreamy, wandering bit of psychedelia more akin to Mark McGuire, submerging the careening anthem it originally was.
