Romare – “Motherless Child” Video
Experimental sample-based producer Romare has made a video for his new track “Motherless Child,” which uses dual screens of archival footage to set a somber, meditative mood. “There are two tributes running through the song,” Romare explains. “One is to John Lennon and the other is to the spiritual ‘Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child.’ The two are related as John Lennon’s mother was killed when he was young, so I thought I would juxtapose moving images to explore this relationship.” And indeed, there’s video of a young Lennon matched up with imagery from the civil rights movement, putting the domestic right alongside the working class. Romare’s new album Projections is out 2/23 via Ninja Tune.
