WATERS – “What’s Real”
Power-pop four-piece WATERS are prepping their debut album What’s Real, and today they shared the title track. Van Pierszalowski laments “I’ve been stuck with the same kind of people/ Just blind and drunk, we can never see what’s real,” but he sings it over a swooning, female harmony and enough gigantic, pulsing guitar joy to make it sound like a celebration. One of my favorite songwriting tricks is when a song sounds really happy even if it’s about super sad stuff, and this track nails that. Listen below and also check out the angsty anthemic first single “Stupid Games.”
What’s Real is out 4/7 on Vagrant.
