SOAK – “Immigrant Song” (Led Zeppelin Cover)
Last time SOAK did did a cover, she was singing us to sleep in Annie Clark’s dystopian future with a version of “Digital Witness.” Now, 18-year-old Bridie Monds-Watson has tackled Led Zeppelin’s iconic “Immigrant Song.” A stippled synthetic bassline underlies her brooding, restrained take, and she never strays into the kerosene explosion that made Robert Plant’s version a crowd favorite. Instead, SOAK keeps it low and lurking, exposing the song for the ominous ballad it always could’ve been. Listen below.
SOAK’s Before We Forgot How To Dream is out 6/2 via Rough Trade. Pre-order it here.
