Travi$ Scott – “3500” (Feat. Future & 2 Chainz)
Up until the riot police showed up, one of the bigger stories coming out of Hot 97’s Summer Jam last night was the way the energetic young Houston rapper Travi$ Scott bullied a photographer off the stage during his set at the outdoor festival-stage preshow. Scott told the unfortunate shutterbug, “Hey, get your fucking nerdy ass off the stage, bro. Go! Now! I don’t know you, bro. Nobody on stage, bro. No disrespect, I’m an artist… I don’t care if you’re working for Summer Jam! Bye! You’re not working for Travi$! This isn’t Summer Jam, this is a Travi$ Scott show!” (He later apologized on Twitter for “being such an ass.”) During that same set, he also debuted “3500,” the first single from his forthcoming album Rodeo. The track is now out in the world, and you could argue that it’s just as indulgent as the stage outburst. It’s an eight-minute prog-rap banger with guest verses from Future and an on-fire 2 Chainz and production from (deep breath) Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, Million $ Mano, Allen Ritter, and Zaytoven. It’s long and spacey, but it has moments of fiery passion, too. Check it out below.
