Mas Ysa – “Arrows”
Next month, the emotive producer Thomas Arsenault, who records as Mas Ysa, will release his layered and lovely debut album Seraph. We’ve already posted “Margarita,” “Look Up,” and “Gun,” the last of which is a collaboration with Hundred Waters’ Nicole Miglis. And now Arsenault has shared a fourth song, “Arrows.” It starts out as a piece of shimmering pop sadness that reminds me of mid-’80s Peter Gabriel. And even after its house beat kicks in, its mood never lifts. In a press release, Arsenault says, “‘Arrows’ is sort of a Euro club banger, but also a very personal love song. It comes out of me wanting to make a universal, club-ready track but unwittingly giving into emotion.” Listen to it below.
Seraph is out 7/24 on Downtown Records.
