LVL UP are following last year’s sophomore album, Hoodwink’d, with a three-track EP fittingly dubbed Three Songs. The new ones feel like a natural extension for the Brooklyn band, leaning a bit more into the murkier side of the sound but still keeping the same indelible melodies. Opener “The Closing Door” has the same otherworldy quality that made Hoodwink’d so great, “Blur” has a needling riff that’ll play great live, and the dirge-y outro on “Proven Water Rites” is a promising note to go out on. There’s no grand progression here, but there’s really no need for one, either — just three more really solid tracks from a great band. Listen to them all below.
