Damon Albarn Says Adele’s New Album Is “Very Middle Of The Road,” Songs He Worked On Probably Didn’t Make The Cut
Adele’s got a bunch of superstar collaborators working on her upcoming highly-anticipated third record: Max Martin, Danger Mouse, Ryan Tedder, and Tobias Jesso Jr. are confirmed, and we know that Phil Collins was supposed to, but never got together with her. Another person that was tapped to record with her and actually followed through was Damon Albarn, and he comes across as pretty lukewarm about the whole experience. Here’s what he told The Sun in a recent interview (via Spin):
Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her. And I’m not a producer, so… I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.
He went on to give some feedback on some of the new Adele songs he’s listened to so far: “I heard the work she did with my friend Brian, aka Danger Mouse. It’s very middle of the road.”
