After the off-kilter "Bug" and the vaguely Twin Peaks-soundtrack-esque "Salt," "Kicker" is the third song we're hearing from Alex Giannascoli's upcoming seventh(!) album and first for indie powerhouse Domino. It's probably the most straightforward one yet, a bummed-out yet propulsive indie-rock strummer, and it's as appealing as ever. "Heaven, maybe freedom, what's the word/ Right, I forgot, quiet is the closest thing we got," he sings, while his guitar twists itself into something resembling a crooked smile. Listen below.
