Pusha T Becomes President Of G.O.O.D. Music, Freestyles Over Meek Mill & Drake’s “R.I.C.O.”
Billboard reports that former Clipse rapper Pusha T, who’s been part of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music roster for years now, has just become president of Kanye’s Def Jam imprint. Talking to Billboard, Pusha says that his role will be “to manicure the label, make it profitable, and be very business-oriented about it going forward in a manicured type of way.” If anyone other than Kanye is going to run G.O.O.D. Music, it makes sense that it’s Pusha, since he and Kanye seem to be on the same aesthetic page. It would be a shame if that meant that Pusha didn’t have enough time for his rap career, since he’s one of the best out right now, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen either. Pusha says that his King Push album should be coming soon, and over the weekend, Dr. Dre shared a new track from Pusha on his Beats 1 Radio show. As The Smoking Section points out, Pusha went in hard over “R.I.C.O.,” the fateful Drake/Meek Mill collaboration that led to the entire feud between the two of them. (Meek fired the first shot when he claimed, on Twitter, that Drake didn’t write his “R.I.C.O.” verse.) Hear a radio rip of Pusha attacking that beat below.
I would absolutely not say no to a new Pusha album right now.
