Ivadell – “Dog Days” (Stereogum Premiere)
Brooklyn-based label Broken Circles are kicking off a tradition this year with the first installment of their planned annual Everything Melts Eventually split series containing songs from bands on their roster about the cold chill of winter (or, as the label puts it, “Christmas songs for people who don’t like Christmas songs”). For their inaugural edition, they got Bandit, Trathalon, Ivadell, and Slow And Steady to contribute new tracks. The first offering we’re hearing is from Columbia, SC rockers Ivadell — who just released their very good debut album Maybe Tomorrow last month — and they take on the feeling that sets in around the holidays that, despite all the cause for celebration, it’s still marking the end of another year that probably wasn’t so great. “It has come and gone,” they pine away with their characteristically dramatic flair. Listen below.
