Today, Pusha T releases his truly excellent new album King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, and he’s made a 22-minute short film called Darkest Before Dawn to go with it. I’ve only skimmed through the movie, but it’s weird and twisted and gothic, with Pusha spending time in confessionals and red-lit rooms, climbing walls like a demon and talking about the darkness that seems to be pulling at his soul. Kid Art, who also directed Pusha’s “Crushes, Crosses, Caskets” video, is the auteur here, and the spooky carousel from that video makes an appearance. Also, last night, Pusha was on the panel at Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show. (He was also on The Daily Show earlier this week, so expect him to be on every Comedy Central show before 2016 ends.) On The Nightly Show, everyone on the panel talked about the year’s most surprising news stories, and Pusha came off sharp and thoughtful, which isn’t a surprise if you listen to his music.
