In Crowning Achievement, Paul McCartney Records “Love Mojis” For Skype
Paul McCartney has been a star for more than 50 years, and he has done a lot of things in that time. He has not, however, recorded soundtracks to Valentine’s Day-themed animated emojis that come up onscreen when you’re on Skype. Until now. Skype has a new line of “love mojis” — a Cupid shooting an arrow, two cartoon snakes intertwining, that kind of thing — and they’ve somehow roped McCartney into making short little bursts of music for those emojis. And he really worked hard on them! Talking about the experience, he says, “It turned out to be a great laugh at the same time as challenging because you suddenly realise you’ve got to compress a musical interpretation of an expression into less than five seconds. It was like doing a huge crossword puzzle and coming up with all these solutions. And at the same time it was musical so it was great practise for me in the studio.” Check out video of him working on them below.
The Love Mojis are available now from Skype.
