Hear Grateful Dead Covers By The War On Drugs, Courtney Barnett, The National, Phosphorescent + Jenny Lewis, And Bruce Hornsby + DeYarmond Edison
The National revealed the tracklist for their massive Grateful Dead tribute compilation Day Of The Dead last week, and now they’ve unveiled five songs from the three-disc set. They’re big-name contributions, too: The War On Drugs doing “Touch Of Grey,” Courtney Barnett’s “New Speedway Boogie,” Bruce Hornsby teaming with Justin Vernon’s old band DeYarmond Edison on “Black Muddy River,” the National taking on “Morning Dew,” and a version of “Sugaree” credited to Phosphorescent, Jenny Lewis, & Friends. Hear all five covers below.
Some context from Aaron Dessner:
These 5 are just a sampling, not favorites or singles. Can't wait for you to hear all 59 songs!!
