Watch Wayne Coyne Sing About His Influences And Being In The Witness Protection Program
The Flaming Lips are appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert tonight to pay tribute to David Bowie by performing their cover of “Space Oddity.” In advance of that, Colbert has shared a web exclusive clip featuring frontman Wayne Coyne singing a song about all his musical influences. “I asked Stephen about perhaps making separate appearances on the show for every band that I like. He gave a hard no,” Coyne explains. “So, I crammed all these influences into one catchy little tune.” The jaunty acoustic ditty veers into unexpectedly dark territory when Coyne recalls accidentally hitting a deer with his car, his drug-dealing past, and joining the witness protection, which are all things that definitely happened.
